Hey guys, first time posting. Great site, Ive learned soooo much about my car here. I have a 92 240.This may be a dumb question, but where do i test for resistance on a fuel injector? Ive pretty much isolated it to my #3 injector. The car shakes and has significant loss of power. Ive changed my plugs and tested all my plug wires. Pulled out each plug wire and noticed no idle change on #3. There is a spark on it though. So this tells me its a dead cylinder. While it was idling, i also pulled the wire harness for the #3 injector and there was no change in idle. So if anyone can tell me how to check resistance, and also how to use a Noid tester, that would be great. THANKS!!

so are you saying you think your #3 fuel injector is bad? I know one way to tell if it is bad is to pull out all of your spark plugs and if only the #3 plug is blackened/fouled then your #3 injector is probably bad. Are you having any other problems besides shaking and loss of power?

When I changed out all my plugs, I did not see anything unusual, or 1 plug more fouled than the others. Yeah, car shakes bad, loss of power, and engine sputtering - like a dead cylinder. It doesnt overheat or blow out any smoke, I dont smell any gas in the engine compartment.

Do you know how to check your ecu for codes? it never hurts to check and see if its throwing you one, thats always an easy way to figure out the problem. By the way when do you experience this shaking and engine sputtering? at idle or during a certain rpm range or when?

Sputters at idle and under load. Anywhere from 400 - 1000 RPM at idle. I didnt know how to check for codes, but i found a link on here that shows you how, so I have an idea now. Looks pretty straight forward. Like I said, Great site! thanks

your timing could be off or your spark plug gap could be off some. check those too. (im not sure exactly what they should be on the ka but im sure you can find out by using the search button)

you plug a noid tester in line with the injector to make sure the injector is getting power. It is a small light that will flash when power is passing through it.

my 2 cents

A noid light is self explanitory to use if you can find one. If I were you I would just swap the 3rd injector with the 2nd or something. This way if your dead cylinder becomes the 2nd one then you know what to do. If it isn't the injector then it is probably the connector or wiring. It could be the ecu, but it's not likely. There isn't much else it could be assuming you are correct about spark being up to par.

Ok, yeah that would completely isolate the suspect injector. Ill do it this weekend and give you guys an update.

thanks all.
