hey, first of all sorry if there was another post covering this topic i must've not seen it. anyways ok here is my problem. A few months ago some weird things started happening to my car. of the worst was this situation where the car will be running idle like waiting at a red light for example, then when i press the gas to go, the rpm would significantly decrease from normal idle (750rpm or so) to waaay low like 300 or so almost killing the engine and sometimes actually killing the engine to completely off. i had checked almost everything when i realized i didnt even look at the fuel injectors. so i did, and walla, they were so dirty i couldnt even see the injectors past all the gunk. (even the fuel injector cleaner fluid couldnt clean away all the gunk) so i took each one off, and cleaned em up to perfection and they looked good as new. so finally i went on my way and they worked great. until just recently i noticed it happening again. the fuel injectors looked fine, and i had regularly cleaned them. now my question is: has anyone else encountered fuel injector problems? if so, how did you go about to fix them? please help because i hate dying at a green light! thank you and sorry for the story of my life

The injectors may be dirty internally. Run some good injection cleaner, like Techron or Redline SL-1, through the system; Give the cleaner about a week or two to do it's job.

There is also a product called BG products 44K. It is however a very strong cleaner and in some cases it has worsened fuel injection operation; it has a tendency to attack the internal non-metallic parts of a fuel injector.

hey man thx for the info, ill check that out. ya i usually use normal chevron fuel injection cleaner fluid. but i got each injector cleaned to perfection only a month or 2 ago. : / i dont think it wouldve gotten THAT dirty again to mess up the way it used to when they were HELLA gunked up.

i did notice though that when it started happening earlier today, my check engine light was on and then when my light went off, it stopped....weird. i just hope to god i dont have to replace my injectors....but for me in oakland kragen they got em for like 95$ each but thats still a hefty sum for four of em...

too bad you weren't in need of those injectors a few years back when I tossed them away since no one wanted them for free with a manifold no less on craigslist.

Are you cleaning the outside of the injectors or the actual innards? Give them a wiggle test at the connectors yet?

aw man probably coulda used em. w/e lolmostlyi clean the outsides, i dont want to mess with anyting on the insides ill let the liquids do that. and yes i gave them the wiggle test at the connectors found it to be sluggish in some positions. i might get the wires changed...

If you have some time, you might want to send them to Deautch(?) tech for clean up. I've heard nothing but good things about them.

i have the same problem it did it a while when i first got it and i checked the injectors and the 3rd and 4th are dribbling very slowly but enough where it warned me and i can smell it any suggestions i am goign to give it a tune up when i can just wondering all i should do i thought it could be a exhaust prob cuz when mine would bog down to low low rpms when i had it parked i would gove it accleration by hand when it bog down a little smoke not a lot or dark cam close by exhaust man ????
