I am considering obtaining my own equipment. Not the BG mach. per se but a gauge, hose & solvent can puncture device.

There are quite a few different choices available. $100.00 or less to well over $500.00. I can not really see that much diff. in the actual operation of and end effect that would justify that much $ diff. Of course Snap-on will always be a better prod. than say Actron. I have no intent to use this but a couple of times a year.

I will have the MSDS in possession by 04/21 on several prods.,3M, Echlin Napa, BorgWarner, BG.

The question here is; Doesn anyone other than resident indie shop owners have a unit? What kind? What is your chosen chem. & why.

Any thoughts?

In 212,000 miles I have never had any "fuel injection service" other than the occasional can of BG44k or Redline Si-1 thrown in the tank-car idles perfectly, accelerates like new, drinks gas like new....what are you hoping to cure with the procedure?

While injector rail flushes certainly don't hurt anything, the quality and strength of the solvents and detergents is of prime concern. Just running isopropyl or acetone won't cut it.

Read Q45tech's posts on the subject for operational considerations.

qship that is an impressive testimony. Have you owned this Q for the entire 212k? What has been your PM schedule as to fuel, fuel filters etc.

Have read all the doomsday verbiage & am thinking of this device as a bombshelter.

This somehow brings into question the validity of statements to the harm ethanol will do. I take presumption here that Maryland uses ethanol. If I am in error here I trust you will correct.

It's not so much as a problem to be corrected as much as a PM issue.

I would like a smoother idle but that could be due to many things previously discussed ad nauseam in previous posts.

I bought the car from Infiniti dealer with 22k on it- have used premium fuel only- every drop with MTBE, then ethanol for the last 3 years. Fuel pump changed at 110K due to noise-fuel filters changed every 25-30K

Redline Si-1 or BG44k about every 6 months. So far no injector issues

Go to http://www.redlineoil.com punch in your zipcode to get your nearest dealer.I think it is a good product,only based on my lack of fuel system issues at 212,000 miles {I have used mostly the redline fuel system cleaner, BG44k only 2 times so far}

mako ur funny.

I've never seen Redline S1 but will add it to my MSDS research.

qship is it a Berryman prod? qship would I be crass to ask you what you paid for your Q in what I would guess to be 97 or 98?

Those stats are impressive to say the least. My 96 just rolled 122k. All it's life in soflo ceptin travels.

Perhaps I;m reacting to a non existent problem.

Prolly better to spend $ on rojas vino & other party favors.

Redline is an independant company based in California that produces their own products.Pretty cool, you can call them directly at the factory and talk to head engineers, techs, etc with questions.

I bought the Q in 1999 from Nationwide Infiniti, it was turned in by a Doctor who had it on a 36 month lease I paid 28K and it came with all service documentation, no paintwork or scratches...they had almost a dozen to choose from at the time, and I picked thru every single one of them....narrowed them down based on physical condition, mileage, then had the service records printed for the remaining candidates and picked the one with complete records and no 'issues" like re-occuring owner concerns. So far it has been a wonderful car, except for rust bubbles forming on both rear wheelwells that so far I cant find a acceptable cure for

That's a great Q success story. Thanks for sharing.

So, what about a filter choice? I've been using the Pure 1. Is it the best choice?Who knows. It's all a crap shoot today with corporate bean counters seeking that .00005% more bottom line.

Harbor Freight sells one now... I think anything that you can pressurize with your air compressor with BG cleaner will give you good results. http://www.harborfreight.com/c...5834I

Should you not want to use an air compressor, I have a NAPA branded kit with tons of adaptors designed for shop use and is heavy duty. You can buy the screw on cans from your local NAPA store. I would prefer something that I can use with my air compressor and the BG products. I would be willing to sell it for whatever I paid for it... I haven't used it yet.

Q451990, shoot me a $ figure along w/part#. Happy to take a look. Would rather do biz w/fellow nico member as long as it does not cost more than what's available to me thru other sources. I mean after all, loyalty stops at the bottom line.

With a rail flush you need to be able to adjust rail pressure from 34 psi idle/cruise to 44 psi WOT...............I like to give it a final burst at say 50-60 psi and then let it run to liquid exhaustion. This is done at idle in park so 11 ounces takes awhile 11 x 28= ~~ 308 grams and idle is only <0.5 grams per second.................. 616 seconds...................9-10-11 minutes.

Tech, thanks for the input. I'm recalling a past post of yours where you state to ''massage the pressure''. I do not however remember the #s quoted but the essence was slowly increase then decrease. Are you now saying just to increase incrementally to finish off @ 60# or are you saying up-down-up& finish @60#?

Does this question even make sense?

No worries, no hurries.

An old West Indian expression.

Alright... here's what I have

The part that I x-ed out is the canister that lets you use shop air and a liquid solvent instead of the aresol can.A link to their web site where you can read the owner's manual:http://www.napaechlin.com/web_....aspx

And a Link to the cleaner... http://www.napaonline.com/Mast...Cleen)

I called NAPA here last summer, and it was readily available for about $10 a can if I remember correctly. The kit cost if you just went and bought it from NAPA was something like $400 or $500 I think. It appears to be new - and I checked to make sure it has all of the adaptors. You should be able to flush every car in your neighborhood if you wanted to!

I can break even at $125 shipped.
