I'm going to be replacing the metal fuel tubes under "Q2" as soon as I can get some here. As best I can tell the tubes run from the rear of the car to the front and terminate with rubber tubes at the front fender and under the trunk. I'd like to replace the fuel hose at either end (since the old stuff is, well, old). Tom at Infinti of Lisle quotes $90 for a 10' roll of the stuff (says he can also sell half rolls). He said it's a special high pressure fuel injector neoprine three layer with two braided layers. Has anyone found anything comparable that's not $9/ft?

Wurth makes a similar hose but the price is close. Perhaps braided stainless could be used, I don't know if it is cheaper. Anything not rated for the pressure does not last long.

Think anyone could fabricate the metal tubes that go from the back to the front of the car?? Just found out that they're on back order and may take up to two months to get... damn new parts system...

I guess that I screwed up on this. I replace mine with the crap from Checker, this includes under the plenum. Guess I will be removing the plenum again this winter.

What is the thought on this hose from Summit.

I am not sure what the -4 AN, -6 AN, -8 AN ect... means other than to indicate the ID of the hose.

The SAE has specifications of all type hoses, if you don't use factory then: R8 type for fuelhttp://www.ltsa.govt.nz/public...9.pdf

Even the R8 hose may not survive years and years of the new oxygenated gasoline? How ever it appears that newer designed hoses do as the 97 haven't begun to leak YET!

Remember the coolant can reach 265F and you want 6-8 years life so you find hoses that can survive 350F at 15 psi!

If you ever over heat, change ALL the hoses again since the pressurized STEAM can exceed the rating of even the factory coolant hoses.

Well I had must say that the hose from Checker will indead hose you. I unknowingly used this stuff and low and behold a fuel leak. I replace all of the fuel hoses under the plenum this morning with a total time for R&R of 3.25 hours. This included removal of the plenum and fuel rails. I also replaced the philips head screws on the clamps with a 8mm hex head.
