Finally got around to replacing all the "under-hood" rubber fuel hoses / clamps on the '96 TT @ 22,600mi. - Last fall I started smelling the faintest smell of gas under the hood after the car sat in the garage between monthly outings and since the senior mechanic at the Nissan dealer retired last year there was no one else who
"knew the car" as he did and was the only tech who ever touched it mechanically speaking.
In any case, I bought the hose/clamp kit from Z1 and spent the morning learning how Nissan assembles this DETT engine.. Man it's tight in there !
Got all the hoses replaced/tested except for the one 3" hose right up front/middle between the Throttle Body Shaft return Springs which connects the R/L Fuel Rails.
Just coudn't get any sort of tool or adaptor in that spot to remove the clamps.
I also tried removing the timing belt covers to try and gain access to that middle fuel hose but there is one bolt on the lower left cover which is directly behind what I think is a metal manifold of part of the cooling system which covers any possibility of enough room to remove that bolt without first removing the manifold - that's where I stopped...
So I am asking for any tips on just how this is done for that particular hose.
Any suggestions ?
