Has anyone noticed the tick marks on the fuel gauge (I have an '07 SL hatch)? There are four divisions on mine (normal), but between the first two large tick marks, the one that you'd assume indicates the first quarter-tank, there are three (3) intermediate tick marks; between the second and third major ticks there are four (4), between the third and fourth major marks are four again, and between the fourth and fifth major marks (typically indicating the fourth quarter-tank) there are only TWO.

Anybody know why??

maybe they just wanted to make it very clear that there is no way that you will be able to get a reliable reading from it.

I kinda like knowing when I have 7/9ths or 15/64ths of a tank left.

That might explain why it takes so long to get down to a half of tank and 3 seconds to reach empty!

I never bothered looking that close...I just put gas in when I see the little light come on. But usually I forget and 3 days go by and I'm running late to work and I notice i'm below the E. But somehow I get to work and feel up durning lunch. BTW this is not a true story but but I have gone 3 days with the gas light on.

Ours is a 2008 manufactured in July 07 this gauge has 5 orange marks between all 3 top tank quarters, the complete bottom one only has 3 marks between the white lines. Maybe they are different for Canada vs USA.
