Finally got around to getting the fuel gauge fixed, but noticed something odd after I picked up the car- the instrument cluster is partially obscured by the plastic trim.
Here is a pic showing the issue- note how the odometer and gear indicator are cut off on the corners by the trim:

For reference, here is an older pic I took (showing just the odometer, but you can see a good 1/2" of space to the trim).

The trim piece does not seem to be hung up on anything, in fact it seems like a *new* piece. I'm wondering if they changed this at the dealer for some reason, and either put in the wrong part or used a new one that somehow accommodates the changes to the cluster (not likely imo).

Has anyone else noticed this?

The tech simply failed to install the piece properly. I had my cluster removed a few monts ago during diagnosis and this happened.
It took the dealer a few minutesto correct the installation.

lol yeah, thanks-

the day after the gauge fix my serpentine idler pulley failed. I took the picture because the battery and brake light came on and I initially thought it was related to the cluster work.

I noticed the temp gauge as I was looking at the pic, then checked under the hood and saw the serpentine belt on top of the engine.

Waiting for the part to arrive, but man, it ain't easy to get to with all the tubing for the fan. (Why the heck did they put in a hydaulic fan motor anyway???)
