1990 240sx HB 5spd.

I just bought this car, installed the fuel pump that day since that was how it was advertised (not running, needs fuel pump)

Anyways, it took quite some time for the gauge to register any gas that was left in the tank which wasn't much anyways - but the car had been sitting well over a year. It finally did register after just a couple of minutes...

I've since filled the tank and it slowly climbed up the gauge, but never went to full. It eventually reached 3/4 full and that was it. I filled up a couple of days ago. Is there something wrong with the way I installed the pump?

I would think whatever float device that is used to register the fuel level inside the tank wouldn't register anything at all if it was buggered in some sort of way...

Cheers,

Ok, so what does this look like?

I have all of the components reinstalled into the isolated chamber area of the tank (where the pump drops down into)

If anyone has a picture of a pump assembly and point out what you're talking about....I was thinking along the same lines of what you are both saying, that it has something to do with the float..

So I pulled the pump out again today because the car is almost empty.

Nothing is bent for the float, but is the float supposed to sit inside the housed area of the tank where the pump lowers into? Or is it suppose to sit outside of it?
