I took the cluster apart and managed to move the gas gauge needle.
Filled up the tank and figured I'll set it to F and be done...except....
I can't remember exactly how far passed the F mark the needle would go when Full.
Maybe two or three "needle thikness" above the F mark?
I'd like to hear what yours does before I button everything up.

It's actually generally a MAJOR mistake to ever budge a fuel needle off where it was before touching it. The reason being the needle mechanism is so delicate that even messing with it with a finger can throw it off. The coil that returns it to off or zero is as thin as a human hair and easily warped to not ever return correctly again, and the more you fumble with it the worse it gets.

Generally you look to NEVER touch them, and why I chuckle when people pull the needles to paint them or other, it often results in a bad gauge from then on out.

Don't ask how I know that but then, I've been wrong before...........once or twice.

Another thing............you set needle for zero NOT full, a major mistake. Let full fall where it will, you don't walk home based on that.

It was faster to fill it up than driving it around to empty it :)

To answer the question, its usually about 1-1.5 needle thicknesses above the F mark.
