fuel GAUGE ISSUE...

hi all,

i have that "common fuel gauge" issue with my
2003 m45.
i would like to know if there is any way to check to make surte that it is not the sending unit that is bad with my car instead of the gauge.
my gauge stays on pass the full line, and sometime comes down to a little bit under the full line. for some reason i got a gut fealing its the sending unit wrong with mine, please help with any thoughts on how to inspect the unit.
