Hello, I bought my 240 a few months ago. The fuel gauge doesn't work, it sits way at the bottom and never moves. All of the other guages work though. Anyone have any ideas? Please Help. Thanks

WOW that was confusing!!...NOW lets start over here!!

You need to verify weather or not its your gauge or your sender thats the problem. I will assume here you have a hatch back. Lift the carpet up in the back you should see an acces panel bolted to the floor you will see a wire harness going right through it. remove the panel to gain acces to the connectors. I dont know the exact wiring to your car so you will need to find out which one of those wires goes to the sending unit. once you figure out which wire it is you need to turn your ignition on and ground that wire to the body of the car. try it on a bolt head or something unpainted. and look at your fuel gauge if the gauge goes all the way to full your wiring and your gauge are ok. You would need a sending unit. If it doesnt move now you need to go to the cluster and remove the cluster find the wire going to the cluster for the sending unit. Hook up an ohm meter to that wire and a good body ground. with the wire disconnected at the other end the circuit should be open and when you grond it out you should have continuity. if that checks ok then your gauge in the cluster is the problem Its more likely to be the sending unit rather then the gauge though. But it you dont see the continuity in the wire when you ground it out you have a wiring problem that will require you to go through the body harnesses.

I will see if I can locate a diagram for your sender if I find it I will post back the wire color.

Wow, that's good detail! Thanks a lot NISTECH & 240kid. I can't wait to work on it! I ask questions so I can do all the work myself, and hopefully save some money. Thanks guys

If its the sending unit, do I need a new fuel pump? How Much?

I found that the wiring is cut when I open the lid to the fuel pump. Can anyone email me a picture of what it is supposed to look like when you open the lid. All I see is two big lines that go in(fule lines I think) then I have about six wires. Two are yellow wires wired in to the left obove another set of wires that are darker. then I have two wires just hanging there. Please help.

match the wire colors to the colors of the wires on the other side of the cut. Crimp them with a end connector and solider them.
