my buddy was supposed to post this thread but thought asking how to drain his AIV was more important.. cough idiot cough..

anywayys.. my main light harness located by the driverside kick panel was going bad so i ordered a used one from Z1.. the one they sent is off a newer z so the colors dont match up.. i figured out the tail lights, headlights, signals, and kick lights. i cannot get the main interior light to come on while the doors are open. more importantly, my gas gauge read about an inch below the E. it is very clearly failing and im assuming one of the 8 or so still unconnected wires is the one. ive tried just about every combination possible and cant get it to work. any ideas? could this just have been a coincidence and its another wire somewhere else?

ummm....what is a "main light harness"

why was your old one going bad?

did your fuel gauge work before?

the main light harness is a white harness located in the driver kick panel fuse cover.. its next to the OBD data cable port. my old one had wires pulling out the back of it so it had to be replaced. the fuel gauge worked fine before i switched the cables. i tried looking at a schematic for the wires and my brain exploded.

so this "mian light harness" had pins coming out of the connector so you replaced the whole hanress instead of replacing the damaged plug? how does such a plug get damaged?

I'm also unsure as to what a "main Light harness" would have to do with the fuel gauge?

all of the wires were pulling out of the baxck and it could not be repaired. the only option was a new harness. and i believe the fuel sender wire is somewhere on that harness

got FSM?

an old trick for failed senders was to fillup and reset your trip counter, most cars will get 250-300 miles on a tank of gas, a TT with a heavy foot will get less but you know abotu how many miles you can get on a tank, till you get this worked out
