fuel gauge acting strange

the fuel gauge does not like to work for about 30 min when you first start the car (it goes up and down to where it rests when the key is off)
after a while it starts working right what would cause this?? is the sending unit built in to the pump on these things ??? any ideas ??

Try cleaning the connections that connect your instrument cluster. Over time they get dirty and do funny things with instrument read outs.

Hey guys. Started having fuel gauge issues on '93 J30T. Did cleaning connections solve problem? If not, what was remedy? Thanks

It's either cleaning the connections or the baffle in the fuel tank is getting stuck. If It's the baffle, you'll have to remove the backseat to access it.
