if your not going turbo or pushing out a lot of hp then there is no need for a tt Z fuel filter, although it wont hurt, it just flows more fuel through. there are different signs of a fuel pump going out. look in the fsm if you have one and i should give you the simptoms of a bad fp. generally ive heard that they can go out at 80-100k miles or more.

you can get a walbro fuel pump for 85 or so now on ebay. Forget the pick and pull, if you're in a real jam, you can have my old fuel pump, pretty much just pay for shipping and it'll be all good. Then again, you're in SJ, I'm in SF come on up and get it if you want it.

z32 fuel filters in most places are cheaper than the 240 fuel filters. Its a no-brainer. There was no difference between the TT fuel filters and the N/A fuel filters. It will fit into your $40 budget easily and 180fan is nice enough to give you his old pump.

Sounds like a solution to me.
