I am going to replace my fuel filter soon for a 92 Nissan 240sx and I read this post on the F. A. Q. -

"BTW - Use the late model 300zx fuel filter as described in the Product Reviews, it really helped speed the revs up dramatically."

Can anyone fully explain what the benefits of using a 300zx filter are and if there are any drawbacks/issues that I should know about in case I decide to do this? Can it affect the car in any negative way? I'm new to this forum and would appreciate the help.

thanks.

Hi, welcome to the forums =)

when I had to replace my old fuel filter I replaced it with a Z32 300zx filter (1990 and newer)

The benefit is that its physically much larger, allowing fuel to flow through it faster (theoretically) ... however I doubt you would see a performance gain from it, maybe better throttle response though. There are no negative or drawbacks to using one, only that because they are larger, installing it MIGHT be more difficult than a stock filter, but I had very little problems with mine.. just put the new bigger filter in the same bracket the old one was sitting in. Hope this helps =D

yes, your car does rev quicker, however in racing the difference is minimal if any. But if you need to replace the filter, then pay the extra $5 for the 300zx one.

Quite a few places actually sell the 300zx filter cheaper than the 240sx filter.
