Personally I would only use an OEM Nissan fuel filter every 15k miles. It's a bright silver can about 3" diameter & 3" tall. It has a rubber line going in the bottom & a rubber line coming out of the top with an extra rubber sheathing around it that has large holes all over it.
On my Sentra, it was located low on the driver's side firewall, on my Q, it's on the pass side strut tower, also kinda low, the Pathfinder....er....uh...can't remember. (time to change the filter on the wife's car)
If you still can't find it, find the fuel rail & look for a line coming out of either end of either side, trace it from there & you'll find it. There's a clamp on both sides, you'll need a small screwdriver.
BTW, at least release the pressure in the fuel tank by unscrewing the gas tank cap before starting. Others will tell you to pull the fuel pump fuse & try to start the car, releasing any pressure in the system. If the car has been sitting overnight, you probably won't have much pressure to release. There's a valve by the tank that's supposed to keep the pressure from falling, but on a ten year old car, it probably leaks down overnight pretty quickly.
