Ok. I'm in the middle of tuning up my car. So far I've replaced the gear oil and put new ngk iridium plugs and ngk wires.

So I've read how to replace the fuel filter in 'how to' section. Does anyone have any tips on how to do this easier? I couldn't even the clamp on the bottom tube loosened? Any help would greatly be apprciated.

Also, I've ordered a new distributor cap. Are there any precautions I need to take? Or is it just plug and play ; ). DO I need to replace the rotor too?

alot of times the lines are very stuck on the filter remove the clamps, then grab the filter with your hand, grab the hose with a pliers (try not to damage it) and twist. that will break all the crap on the inside that is stuck off.

Relieve the pressure by opening your gas cap. Usually pliers will do the job and a little muscle. If things dont turn out, use some carb cleaner and spray all around the line. This will expand the line, but if you do this too many times or spray too much, the line will break down.

Thanks fellas. Easier said than done though. I'll try the pliers. I sure don't want damage the line.

wrap up the pliers with some duct tape before you grip it and turn. either that or now may be a good time to replace your old fuel lines too.

yeah I was thinking about just replacing the fuel lines too while I'm at it. Good idea on the duct tape.

Take out the fuel pump fuse and start your car... it will run for a few seconds then die. This is the proper way to relieve your fuel system pressure. Be ready for a bit of fuel to spill out when you unplug the sucker. Also a 300zx fuel filter will fit just fine and give you better flow... not a hue increase or anything but the filters cost the same.

Mine was ridiculously hard to take off. I used some boiling water to try and soften/expand the line. After alot of pulling and twisting and swearing, I managed to get it off.

I wore gloves. After relieving the fuel pressure, I took off the bottom line first, put my finger over the bottom where gas was leaking out, then took the glove off and stretched it around the filter, so it kept all the gas contained. there's my tip.
