just clamp the hoses on each end of the filter and turn back and forth, then you shoudl be able to pull the hose away from the filter... careful not to put too much pressure or you'll break the 13 year old hoses

You can also get one of those long curved needle nose pliers. Makes the job and other similar jobs 10x easier.

I use a small standard blade screwdriver and carfully work the inside of the hose open using the edge of the filter as a fulcrum and then cut the edge of the hose off that got ragged a little with a razor knife.

Grow some muscles and maybe some balls while you are at it.

Just some advice.....

If you have not even moved the fuel lines at all, do not just pull as hard as you can. Think of those fuel lines like a Chinese finger-trap. The harder you pull, the more they constrict and will not come off of the fuel filter.

First, spray a good bit of WD-40 on them and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, just use a screw driver to try to pry the line from the fuel filter. You may want to twist the fuel filter to try to dislodge the line from its grip. Once that is done, usually you can pull right up on the filter.....

I really recommend just twisting and pulling with all your strength. Just keep at it! Pliers or screwdrivers might rip the hose, leaving you with another job to do. Probably easier to start with the top portion first.

Get some channel lock pliers grab a hold and twist it a little. If the hose cracks you need new fuel hoses. I wouldn't risk driving with dry rotted fuel hoses. Since you have a 98 I wouldn't worry about dry rotted hoses, just tug and it will come off. Screw driver works but don't stab yourself with it. First try twisting the hose on the filter part don't grab on the hose below or above the filter.

thats what im trying to say dude, the damn hoses won't come off at all. im pretty strong and i can't get them off by hand or by pliers. when i get a chance this weekend im going to try all those other tricks though.

no cat this time. here's a fish that i had and never changed his water so he died. i felt bad and this girl came over and yelled at me and didn't wanna hook up anymore.
