I need help, im in the process of changing out my fuel filter but everytime i remove the fuel lines the line that goes from the tank to the filter spits out gas. I started the car> removed the fuel pump fuse until it died> restarted a few times until it died> disconnect battery> removed gas cap> then removed fuel lines and then I get an awful spilage. I lost about a liter of gas! Am I missing something?

thanks for the response but I did do that as well. Let the car idle, then pull the fuse. wait a minute and then hear it sputter as it goes out. then crank it a few times to get all the fuel out the lines.

Ive done fuel filter changes on my old 92 Sentra SE-R and 2002 G20 and it was easy as pie. pull the fuel line, swap filter, the end.

just plug the line with a bolt or golf tee....or pinch it with a pair of vicegrips

yea now that I think of it i should of just swap the fitler quickly and stop the bleeding. The tee is a good idea. Oh well, the saga continues tom. I stink like gas and I'm hungry. Thanks ppl.

You have to be quick or you will lose a liter for sure.

I much prefer the G50 top location for the filter.

Oh mommy a liter of gas ~~$1......................a liter is ~ a quart more like less than 1/3 a liter 11 ounces vs 33.7.

This condition will cause me to curtail my Cohiba during a FF change to cancel the conflagration component. Quite a conundrum.......crap. Consequently I'll have to increase the Corona quaffing quotient.

Vice grips all the way baby....or a bolt. A warm day, a shade tree and a hot woman in cut off jeans......very very short and very tattered cut off jeans.

It's good to find ways to enjoy wrenching.
