Well Fellas, I am going to change my fuel filter as preventative maintenance on my '94 Q. Does it really matter which Brand I use, because everything else on the Q is OEM specific (i.e. fuel filter, brakes etc.). Also in a failing attempt to update my piepans, I was wondering if anybody on the forum had sets of OEM Maxima or Infiniti I-series rims for sale. Ebay has gottent he best of me. Gracias por todo!!!

I just ordered it from EverythingInfiniti.com and it came out to be $18.45, when you add shipping and handling. This is not a bad price to pay, when one considers how much a defective fuel pump and control module can cost you in the long run. When it comes to installation, is this a DIY job, and if so can somebody offer a brief "how to" course? I will use the search function now on NICO and Q45.org to see what's up. Thanks for the help guys! EQwhipD

Just pull the fuel pump fuse while the car is running (let the engine die) and then loosen the gas cap to release the fuel pressure.

Then you just have to loosen the clamps on either side of the filter and pull the filter out. That's the tough part because the hose is routinely stuck to the filter. It'll take some cussing and twisting... just don't cut the hose unless you're ready to pay big $$ for new hose.

Good luck!

Slip filter out of the harness to be able to better access the bottom screw.

Also you'll need something to absorb the fuel that's gonna spill from the filter and lines(shop towels/paper towel..)

NISSAN part number is16400-V2700^^For future reference. Nissan dealerships carry it and price after tax is about $14. No shipping cost !

That is why I cant bring myself to order low ticket items from Joe. The shipping balances it out to what you might have paid anyway.

Even on some big ticket stuff I am sure it is the same.

Two feet of replacement hose was about $2 at Advance Auto. Add a couple bucks for four proper injector hose clamps (if you dont have any) and it was just under $7 with tax.

My source indicates that the fuel filter is Nissan part 16400-0M200. So now I'm a little confused. Which part is the right one to buy?

HUH you're right too...I asked for the part# i cited above, guy said yes i have it gave me, i didn't even look at the box until just now after reading this post. But the part # on the box is the one you cited. They must reference it by BOTH. I notice the 1st 5 digits are identical, that must be what matters.

Before you crack in to the system anywhere, pull the fuse, run the motor, crank a few times.......

BUT MAKE SURE YOU DO IT ON A DEAD COLD ENGINE!!!!

Otherwise the system will become pressurized again as the lighter fractions of the gas boil off in the injector rail (i.e. vapor lock). Can you say

Didn't really get that result, but I did get several gas soaked rags that I had previously placed aroung the top fuel line.

FYI, Matt
