Fuel filler door

Car: 93 and 94 Quest

Have a 94 Quest with a reluctant fuel filler door. I usually end up prying it open with a key whilst pushing down on the handle with my foot. Although this is entertaining to others at the gas station, (and DOES give me a chance to stretch) I need a solution.

It doesn't have a spring to pop it open when you pull the handle?
