First oil change today at approx. 3100 miles (at the dealer) . . .
first off . . . started as a VERY annoying experience, my GF took the car in because I had to work and Thursday morning at the dealer is free manicure day . . . seriously, they have a lady there giving free manicures to the customers waiting for service.
The annoying part was that they insisted she sign a form stating that we would pay $120 diagnostic fee if the problem was not covered by the warranty. She was told not to worry, just sign it, we won't charge you!
Of course, she called me before signing and put the service advisor on the phone . . . he gave me the same spiel . . . just sign it, we probably won't charge you . . . I advised him that a 3 month old, brand new car with slightly over 3000 miles on it better be able to accept fuel and insisted that he put the service manager on the phone. He disappeared for a few minutes and came back telling my GF not to worry about it . . . she didn't have to sign that we might have to pay. He didn't need (want) to talk to me again!
The solution . . . remove the spider/spiderweb/egg sack from the vent line that allows air to escape as fuel is being added.
I'd really like to know how it got there?? . . . I've only added fuel 15 +/- times since I've owned it and promptly reseal the system (make sure the cap clicks). I wonder if it had happened after I had owned the car longer if it would be considered a "non-warranty" problem???
You would think that a system designed to control (and keep) fumes frm getting out would prevent insects from getting in??
End result, fueled up tonight with no problems at all . . . I'm still pissed about the service dept's attitude, may have to contact the saleslady and sales manager that sold me the car??
