hey,

I'm new to this forum and to the whole world of infiniti and I know going to the forums gets the best answers. I just got my G35x sedan about three weeks ago and I have a mojor issue with fuel economy. 17 gallon tank is lasting me no more than 170-200 miles. I do drive in the city mostly but since I need to break it in I dont really push it.

I've searched the forum and I haven't seen many complainnts about gas milege. Am I the only one or is normal for this car to eat so much gas?

TIA

280-300 HP is generally going to have poor economy. Though, Nissan claims the VQ35HR will have about 10% increased fuel economy. We will see how the real world numbers are as people start chiming in with the new Sedans.

I have the G35 Coupe 6MT and I get between 21 and 29 MPG depending on how I drive it. I even installed a cold air intake and still get the same gas milage. That is one complaint I DON'T have.

I'll chime in here with what I've been getting with my '05 G35 Sedan 5AT. At fill up tonight, 24.6mpg. That's city/highway combination on my daily commute of about 52 miles. The best I've gotten is about 28.5mpg, strictly highway with good quality 89 octane. The worst I've gotten, 22mpg, again this was all highway, but I suspect the fuel quality may have played a major factor along with road construction causing some stop & go situations. So far, I'm pleased with the mileage and while I'm not nailing the throttle all the time, I'm not babying it either :-)

I get 350 per tank with city only driving...400+ with highway only...I only use 91 octane with royal purple synthetic oil though.

I have a G35X sedan (04). My commute has a lot of stop and go traffic in the mornings. I average about 18 mpg.

I think that the all wheel drive has alot to do with the poor gas milege.

But, no matter what I do, I can't get above 20 mpg. Oh well, thats the price I pay for having a terrific, fun to drive.

pgrated.

With almost 14k miles on my 2006 sedan 6sp manual i generally get 24 mpg if I'm not in bumper to bumper traffic. My commute is over 50 miles each way so I get 3 days on a tank & fill it when it gets down to the 1/4 mark. My old 1980 Diesel Rabbit used to get over 50 mpg but what a difference in driving the G35

I've gone through two tanks of fuel with my [new to me] '05 G35 Sedan 5AT and can report similar results. First trip was combo city/highway and I got 24 mpg and second trip was all interstate at 73-74 mph and I got 27 mpg. I'm pretty satisfied with that.

For comparison, my 02 Passat wagon w/ 1.8 turbo gets 30 mpg on the highway [but isn't nearly as fun to drive].
