I have a 1988 200sx which I swapped an 89 ka24e into. I took it onto the highway for the first time yesterday and once I hit 4000rpm in 4th, the engine cut out. This also happens in 5th at 3500rpm. Because of the 4.11 gears stock in the 200sx, this means I can't go anywhere over 70mph max without the engine cutting and requiring me to push in the clutch and let it out to get the motor going again. The only code I'm getting from the ecu is code 14, speed sensor, but this makes no difference because my car has a speedometer cable. Now I'm wondering if I can cut the tach signal to the ecu so it doesn't trip the fuel cut. Will this adversely affect the operation of the motor?
