Fuel cut off??

My problem is at wot usually in 4th gear at about 4500 or higher the car just powers down like a fuel cut off and also on the highway just cruisin at about 3500 in 5th it'll do it until I either downshift or throw it in neutral. My speedo also doesn't work idk if that has anything to do with it but if anyone has any ideas it would be great. It's a 89' sohc 5spd by the way.

i had the same problem in my ka24e and i replaced the speed sensor and still didnt fix it, but my speedo wasnt working as well so i replaced the heads up and it fixed everything...dash lights, hud, odometer and no more fuel cut, so replace the speedo first and see if that works
