I just bought a s13 with a e->de engine swap already done, and i was told all it needed was a MAF sensor. I went and bought one and hooked it up yesterday but there are several things that are wrong. First, The output on the sensor has 3 prongs, and the imput on the wireing harness has 4 prongs, but it looks likt one of them is empty with no wire, hence there are 4 prongs, but only 3 wires. Is that normal? The second problem i have is that when i hook up all 3 wires, the car runs as if there was no sensor on it: really rich and VERY rough idle. When i unhook the black and white wire though, it runs much better, but still not as well as it should. The third, and strangest problem is that when driving, the fuel cuts off at 2500 rpms. If anyone can help me, i'd b really thankful.

It's all related to the MAFS. You may have bought a irty MAFS, maybe just a bad one or you may have the wiring backwards. With the engine running, check the voltage on the maf. It should be .8-1.1V at idle. If not your MAF needs to be sprayed with brake cleans, contact cleaner, etc...If that doesnt work you need another one in working condition.

mafs plug or the mafs itself is bad. If it were dirty, it'd probably idle like crap, if it's cutting off, then your ecu's seeing "no mafs"

Well, who's done a successful swap and had no problems? Before i bought it i saw dozens of topics with people that had done a successful swap, it can't just be 2 or three cars that all do the same thing and no one knows what. SOMEONE has to know what's wrong. It's a brand new sensor, and i'd HATE to take it down to nissan, I'm kinda broke right now. I'm gonna try splicing some new wires tonight, but I have a feeling it's something else. It looks like there's supposed to be a 4th wire, i'm gonna go look at the Chilton's guide tonight, my friend has one. Is anybody else in FT myers FL?
