I've been reading through several threads on skylineaustralia.com forums and came across one in the archive where people are having very similar problems to me. Several people are having a hard time with the car kind of put put put'ing when they take off hard in 1st or 2nd gear. This is the exact same problem I've having. Another common factor is I have a 3 inch cat-back exhaust, as well as these guys.

Anyway one guy mentioned something about getting a fuel cut defender and that the increased boost of the 3 inch exhaust is causing the ECU to cut off fuel when you really get on it. Does this sound reasonable? DId anyone else have to install such a device when fitting an aftermarket free-flowing exhaust?

Btw I've got an RB20DET that reads a tad over 10 lbs of boost.

that is what i was thinking when i read your other post, but being that i am not to familiar with the rb engine i wasn't sure if it would have been an educated reply. From my experience w/ 3sgte toyota engine there fuel cut doesnt kick in until about ~14-15 psi the stock boost is i belive ~7-9psi.. when me and my friend up the boost on his all trac and another one of my friends mr2 without a fcd the cars would do the same thing that you stated in your previous post. but i am still not certain if .5 psi will cause the ecu to retard your timing but it could be very possible.

good luck on resolving it, and congrats on ya swap

There is no real boost cut on the RB20 from what I understand, other than if you max out the MAF.
