Ok its been doing this since I swapped it in. Have fixed other problems and hoped these would go away but nope.

Hits fuel cut at 5500-6000rpm. No codes present except 55. Is the CA18DET even supposed to have a fuel cut or does it have a hard rev limiter like hondas and new cars?

By fuel cut I mean it revs up and hits "redline" and falls flat on its face for a bit then revs back up. Dont know if its turning off the injectors for a couple secs or killing spark for a couple secs. Either way it sucks when it happens so early. Anyway a hard rev limiter would be an exact RPM that the engines bounces off of. "vroom-vroom-vroom-vroom" lol

In addition to the ghey lack of high revs its lacking power in the low end and everywhere else. Stumbles to get past 3k. First thing that comes to mind is timing. Both valve and ignition timing have been checked a million to the tenth power times. They're perfect.

Ideas? Anything that tends to cause problems similar to what I'm seeing?Thx

Waylon, are you sure you have the right maf? I had an SR20 one and it ran like **** cold and crappy warm. Throw up the part number so I can see if it's the right one or not. I got one from Eric so call him up if you need a spare CA maf.

check your grounds and charging system.

if your electrical system is not in working order you will get similiar problems to this. make sure your alt is putting out more then 12 volts, check it with loads on and make sure the voltage is still up. check for voltage drops etc. multi meter is your friend.

also could be vac/boost leak related like boost boy suggested.

MAF numbers22680 58A00AFH45-30lightly stamped on the plastic is 9414

Doesn't matter though cuz I fixed it and I feel like a tool.

#1 ignitor was dead. Replaced with an extra and WOOT my S12 is fast. Very impressed with the CA18DET now that I actually get to drive it running right.

I suspected a dead cyl a while back and checked spark. All was good but I guess #1 was just starting to go out at that point.

To recap...Stumbling, low power, and 5500rpm fuel cut were all symptoms of a dead cylinder.

Now I just need to tune.

Thanks all!!
