I did search for this and came up with nothing.

Anyway, i drove my car like I normaly do today and went up to redline just for fun (6500) 1 hour later i down shifted to pass this one guy and hit a nasty fuel cut/limit at 5000 rpm.Right now it still wont let me get past 5000 rpms. Any help is appreciated on what the problem could be. Going to check ecu codes when i get back from work.

You'll probably get a code 33, try adjusting your timing.

Your 5th gear sensor is probably toast (may or may not be attributable to your redline fandango). The 5th gear sensor acts as a backup to the speed governor. When you are in 5th it engauges the 5000rpm rev limiter.

Try disconnecting it and it shouldwork fine. If that doesn't work then get back to us.

Yup, 5th gear sensor crapped out. Disconnected it and work like normal now. Thanks for your help. Oh one more thing, the ecu wont throw any codes or anything will go wrong for disconnecting this sensor?

Nope.... you should be fine. The sensor completes the circuit when you go into 5th gear. So basically the ECU will just never think the transmission is in 5th. It doesn't affect it at all. Glad I could help!:D

Hmmm.... if memory serves it is the farthest sensor back on the bottom/side of the transmission. I will check tomorrow in the daylight... but I'm pretty sure that's right.

For a SOHC (not sure if its the same for DE) there are 3 sensors on the passenger side of the transmission, the one more in the middle is the one you are trying to disconnect. Make sure you unplug it and dont cut it just in case. Check your ECU for codes if this doesnt fix your problem.

yup, the top most sensor is the neutral position, the one furthest back should be 4th gear sensor, and the one in front is the 5th gear. The big sensor on the bottom is the speed sensor. dohc have and extra sensor, i have no clue whats it for.

Well... technically it just cut the fuel at 5000rpms... the redline has always been 6500.:D

Welcome to NICO... glad we could help!

removing the 5th gear sensor didn't work for me. Can anyone suggest anything else? Please, it is making me upset as all hell.
