Nistech is probably onto something. I think you are just being paranoid. You see a fuel gauge is just a glorified ohmmeter. The thing you will notice if you have an analog ohmmeter, you will see that the scale is not proportionate. Nor is the one on your gas gauge. So either the top part of the tank or the bottom part will read disproportiately, usually the top. Check what you get on a full tank:MPG = ([Am of Gas Filled - Capacity of tank]/Mi traveled)
If you are still worried after that, then let us know. Plus yes, a lot of people are siphoning fuel, sad but true, buy a locking cap.
