Car: nissan versa hatchback version 2010

Post

I have a brand new Nissan versa 2010 Hatchback 1.8. The main reason why I chossen this car was its fuel economy. All the numbers in the catalog and in the Nissan website was wrong. It has 2500 kms and just make 450 kms per tank, fulled the tank up to maximun. According the owner manual, this car tank capacity is 50 liters.
So this car make 9 km per litre. This rate is absolutely unacepttable for this kind of car. Before I had a Buick Regal 2003 with an engine of 3.8 and it make better!!!!!! 500 km per tank ( 52 liters).
I take the car to Nissan dealer but they did not found some anomaly. They said that this car have a "breaking point" to adjust and because is brand new its fuel consuption is high.
I would like some opinions. Thanks in advance.

There's quite a few threads on mileage. Just search and you'll find a lot of owners experiences and information.

I get about 400 km on a tank in the city, 600 km to a tank highway
I can tell you it got better after 10,000 km
In the cold however with snowtires it goes lower

Mileage is lower than what the sticker would have said. Those tests are done in ideal conditions/settings.
Right now, with 41K on my odometer I am averaging 26+ MPG on each tank. This is an even mixture of highway and city; and I have snow tires on the car right now as well. This past summer I was averaging about 28 MPG (or higher) per tank. I am happy with that. With the prices of fuel in Canada right now, I am very happy that I own a small car. I put $20 of fuel in my parent's minivan the other night, and it didn't even give the van a 1/4 tank of fuel. $20 can almost give my Versa half a tank :D

My stats are there on the left
<-----------
on about 55% highway, 45% city driving, mostly warm and dry conditions. I drive the car easy, too. There is definitely a break-in period for the car. My car jumped almost 2 mpg (averaging almost 30 mpg) after it turned 30,000 miles. Apparently I was driving it too easily from day one for the break-in to occur.

I have a Nissan TIIDA 1.6 SVE Auto sedan petrol 2009 26k and my average milage has been 37 to 38 mpg using imperial gallons and converting to us gallons would be around 31/32 mpg, in metric terms 7.4ltrs per 100klm. Driving in Scotland you rarely get stuck in traffic and that helps, burning fuel and not moving kills your mpg figures. This month my figures will not be good, with snow and temp at -12c, starting the car and letting it run to heat it up a bit and defrost does not help but that is just the facts of winter. Put it in the garage, I would if it was not full of stuff.
