Fuel consumption

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

As much as I love driving the EX I have a continuing problem with the fuel consumption. I know that a lot of you will say that I shouldn't have bought a SUV with a 300 hp engine if fuel consumption was a concern however I would like to know if my experience is unusual so that I can speak to the service department. My most recent tank is showing 15.6 l/100k (15.08 miles/USG, 18 miles/ImpG) Admittedly most of my driving is city (short trips) but it is still warm outside and i would expect better results. I have been driving conservatively to try and get a better figure. Please share your experience.Thank you

If you have AWD, AC or/and Climate Control on most of the time, I don't think your dealer will help. Also don't use cheap gas. Just enjoy

I had my EX for about 2 months. Most of my drivings are short trips in the city. I got about 15L/100KM. The best fuel consumption I had so far is when I was on highway for about 40 mins. I got 10-11L/100KM. My previous car was a Mercedes C230 which I got about 13L/100KM. With a much bigger engine, 15L/100KM is not unreasonable. Some people say fuel consumption will get better after the first oil change and I am looking forward to that.

my fuel economy for high-way driving is around 23mpg going at 75 mph and i haven't noticed any increase in mpg after the first nor the second oil change.

I have almost 5000 miles and have not had the oil changed yet, soon though. My driving is about 70% highway and 30% city with a pretty heavy foot and I am averaging between 25 to 26 miles per gallon. Your numbers seem to be somewhat low from my perspective.

My AWD has almost 23,000 miles, and 4 cross country trips. We have avg. 27 MPG, HGWY, on these trips (avg 70 MPH). I use premium gas, except on the high altitude legs. I change oil according to the 7500 mi. schedule, and use nothing but Mobil One, 5w30. Around town I get 16-18, and I don't baby it. Considering the performance potential of this car, I have no complaints about the mileage .

I think there's already a couple other threads on here about the EX's fuel consumption. In my case, I only get about 14 mpg (US). This is after a couple oil changes. I drive mostly short city trips, with a little highway.

I'm at 22-23 with mostly highway trips.

In town short trips I'm about 17-18.

2008 with 8k miles AWD and I never use A/C unless it's raining.

I've had my 2008 AWD EX since Apr '08 and it now has 21,500 kms on the clock. I drive about half-half city-highway and purposely haven't reset my fuel consumption numbers for the last 10,000 kms, or so.

FWIW, I'm getting 11 liters per 100 kms on regular gas and I don't baby the car. I do turn off the A/C unless I need it (in case you think that has any significance).

i drive from Long Island to Brooklyn and back everyday during rush hour and I'm still averaging about 20. I think this is one of the times i love the less aggressive transmission....because i can just relax and roll through traffic without the stop and jerk that i had with my 335 or the TL... that drove me nuts, made my temper horrible too.

to be honest i was getting like 12MPG on the TL, 14 on the 335, so i see a huge improvement in MPG for me overall

Driving between 65 - 95 MPH, I average 22.5 - 24.0 MPG, and I don't drive conservatively. I step on the gas when I need to. But I use Premium Gas all the time.
