I'm sure many of you are familiar with the fuel cleaner topic. I wanted to test a few and post some personal results. But this post will be updated when I test more. Feel free to tell me what you think of the results.

Here is some background. My car is a 2006 nissan 350z with the vq35de engine. It has around 90k miles on it and it has never used a fuel cleaner as far as I know.

This is the first one I wanted to try... for no apparent reason...
I only use the piston as my comparison... because its easy to get to, and I'm lazy.

So here is one of my pistons before:

After:

Conclusion: I DON'T LIKE IT.... NOT ONE BIT. It looks worse than it did before.
ps. I'm going to be trying gumout later as well as the chevron techron

add seafoam to your testing. i watched a video where a guy tested it on his single piston lawnmower and showed great results using it as directed.

Oh that video with chris fix. After watching it I really wanted to try seafoam.

I will try this when I get the chance. The one thing I'm a little worried is that it might blow off a huge chunk and end up getting stuck somewhere.

yes, that's the exact video lol.

if used according to the directions, i doubt a chunk will come loose. we have a thread in gen chat about seafoam that includes procedures, as well as testimonial from our own members. my buddy and i actually spoke tonight about doing the treatment on two of our vehicles this spring (neither of us have actually done it before). i'll check in when we get around to it and share our experience.

For some reason that made me laugh. But yeah, I agree. The only thing I could think of is if it blew out carbon from the intake or something, and that ended up on the piston. It would be cool if you could look at the intake too... maybe open the throttle body and put the scope down there too?
