I have two ideas for fuel cell placement, The plan for the truck is to turn it into a flat bed, I either will mount a fuel cell where the current tank is or all the way to the rear, I'm not afraid of some wiring and hose work, This is a long term build anyways. just would like to test drive this thing already lolwhomadewho wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2025 12:41 pmKind of a tough question to answer. As far as a name brand most aftermarket pumps are manufactured over the pond. Even the ones that are manufactured in the USA a lot of the pieces are also manufactured over the pond. I mentioned ethanol I live in Minnesota and are fuel contains at least 10 percent ethanol meaning I would have to use fuel hose, and a fuel pump that is suitable and designed for fuel that contains ethanol. Is your engine carbureted or fuel injection? Another problem you may encounter is wiring. You’re almost going have to use the original factory wiring that is connected to the fuel pump. You might be able to use a 12 volt universal electric pump??? You also need a fuel pump that is a self prime and not gravity. Just curious where are you going to mount the fuel cell?? Before you order a pump make sure you do your homework to ensure that you have all the proper lines and fittings. Also if you’re mounting the tank under the vehicle make sure it’s mounted on the inside of the frame rail.
I got very lucky, this truck has minimal rust, but lots and lots of dirt. Long term plan is making a Nissan version of this thing. I'll be leaving the engine in the front because, I just don't want to move it, so I'll want that weight in the rear hopefully to hold me down to the road a bit. I know it won't be super fast with the z24i but at least it can look really cool. If you search Michi-San Hakotora on youtube, You'll get the idea of what I want to do with the enginewhomadewho wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 6:43 amI replaced the bed on a 1997 Nissan Hardbody with a flatbed. The biggest problem was rusted bolts, hoses and wiring. I mounted the tank where the original was located. The back looked a little crowded. I dreamed about doing it for months, when I got around to doing it kind of turned into a nightmare. I sometimes think I should consider taking sleeping pills before going to sleep. Good luck.
