What's going on guys,
I recently got rid of my s13 coupe and got me an s14 shell
Luckily I got to keep my wheels and my Rb out of the coupe

Aside from dealing with a slightly rusty underbody the fuel lines are pretty bad
I am using chassis saver to undercoat the bottom of the car and have the gas tank and subframe out to replace bushings. The thing is i am planning to put a fuel cell in the trunk

My main question is, should I put the stock tank back in when I put the cell in to preserve the underbody aerodynamics? Or is it cool just to leave it out with a big air pocket under my back seats?

Thanks in advance

If you're not worried about weight, then sure why not.

If you're worried about weight, then build some kind of diffuser.

Easy peezy.

Well if you leave the big open gap your gonna have some aerodynamic issues... if you take it out... then your front to rear weight ratio will be slightly effected (gas tanks that are metal are heavy) im assuming your wanting to make a fuel cell for E-85 fuel? I would leave it in incase you want to put regular octane gas in.

I was looking into cutting the trunk to mount the cell, but that doesn't solve my issue on an s14 because my gas tank is kind of under the back seats not in the back like in an s13 so it wouldn't really solve the issue

Well The main reason is because the stock hard lines are really rusted and I want to replace the lines anyway, now my fuel rail also came with some 6an and 8an fittings so I was going to run them and some steel braided line front to back. so instead of trying to mod my plastic tank cap to fit -an fittings I was just going to put the cell in the trunk and never worry about a cracked tank

Yeah but unless it's bottom sump there are issues with liquid ballast and capacity, plus depending on state evap and purge inspection. I loved having the fuel cell, hated the capacity and the smell after a fill up. I would say unless you have to, dont. Beside a 300LPH an fitting setup is not too hard to do and spare tanks are out there.... hell I have a clean S14 tank for sale with lines, sender and pump right now

Well I live in Florida so emission and evap testing are no problem, and I made a mock up of a 10 gallon 16x16x10 10 gallon, so I figure 10 gal isn't much worse then 13, besides I rarely have more then a 1/4 tank any way haha

I was also thinking of running a fuel swirl pot/surge tank setup with the feed and return to the pot being regular hoses then the feed and return to the motor being 8an with a bosch 044 inline and my walbro in tank
