Honestly, I don't... a copy of the FSM my give you an idea. Does it have an electronic opener... if so do you hear it click?

If you have warranty left - I would let the dealership figure it out - and stress that you don't want to have anything repainted!

I had this same problem on my Q...

It just makes a clicking noise and won't open. Needed a screw driver to pry it open while having someone else press the button at the same tiem and eventually the problem went away by itself.

when i had my g [sedan] i noticed that there was no release handle. i would have to unlock all the doors in oreder to get the fuel door to open [and then it would just push open]. if that's not your problem, than like heath said, use your remaining warranty. i know you have at least 9 monts left unless you've already got 60k.

I think that in the 2003 model year (others too maybe), the opening of the fuel door was kind of unusual. There was no button ... you simply had to "unlock" the car with the fob (even if the car was unlocked), and then push on the fuel door on the "opposite side" of the door. If you locked the car, the fuel door then "locked" too.

It was confusing ... I had a loaner one time and had to call the dealer to find out how to put fuel in! Embarassing.

Could this be the situation here?

there is a manual release located on the lock mechanism itself-you need to remove part of the trunk liner on the passenger side-just enough to get your arm in ther to reach it-there is a small white knob type thingy that you can pull on to release the lock-i've seen this alot-if it is still under warranty just take it to the dealer and have the gas door actuator replaced
