Has anyone successfully installed a FSTB on a 1999 Infiniti I30? If so, what did you do with a sort of "bracket" that exists on the top of the driver's side strut assembly. This prevented me from being able to align the FSTB's bracket with the strut assembly's bolts. Is it safe to cut that piece of metal off the assembly? It has two holes on the top of it, with one being threaded as if some sort of bolt/screw fits in. However, I don't see how/why it is used. I will try to borrow a camera and take some pictures to demonstrate exactly what I'm talking about...

Anyone know whether this is something that is common with all 4th Gen I30s or just the 1999 model, or even more specifically just the 1999 Limited Edition?

Any of our I guys around?? My max doesn't have any brackets attached to the strut tower.

Any chance you could take a picture and post it? If you don't have a photobucket account, you can email it to me, and I'll post it for you.

IIRC the bracket only holds up an A/C hardline or something (I forget what), but you can also unbolt the bracket entirely, I don't think you need it.

This is only on the 99's if memory serves, at least for the 4th gens.

Here's a picture of the whole top strut tower assembly:

Here's a closeup:

Here's a picture showing the end bracket of the FSTB not being able to sit flush on the assembly because of the bracket that's in the way:

I don't see how I can unbolt the bracket. What do you mean by "notch" the bracket with a dremel?

He means cut the bracket off the strut tower, or at least remove enough material that the bar will mount properly. If it's not holding anything, then it serves no purpose.

Thanks for the help. Oh, and I ended up creating a photobucket account ... which is why I didn't email you the pictures.

My 4.8V Cordless "Mini" Dremel didn't quite do the job in cutting, so I had to use pliers to "bend" the metal bracket back and forth a small piece at a time until I was able to yank it off. Nevertheless, the installation of the SPW FSTB was a success as you can see below:

Thanks to everyone for their help! Next Mod: Progress or Addco RSB ...
