sucks man that your parents wouldn't give you some extra time, you were so close.

Here are some extra pics that puma took after he built that ecu.

was the engine it was set up for all stock? mods?

just so i know what the starting point is, i might not even use the powerFC now (just so i dont waste time tuning it when im going to switch later on MAP sensor + extra input/output controllers FTW)

I never even got as far as that to get it tuned. Its set right now for 450cc injectors, but can easily be changed.

Oversteer's ecu was setup just to get his motor started and idling. At first the ecu was setup for stock motor but didn't realize oversteer had 450cc injectors.

I wouldnt use the map on it to start with. Just go to megasquirts website and follow the configuring guide and the tuning guide. Are you gonna use the FORD EDIS-4 parts?

yeah, im going to use all the standard junk that he is sending me(btw, didnt get to send out the crank pulley today, it will go out tomorrow morning after i get off work)

after i get it running, and the engine broken in. then the megasquirt, injectors and FPR go on. if the ford unit cant keep up, then ill get a MSD box.

and when its time for teh AC to go in, then its time to switch to a hall sensor

looks like ill be selling the Z32 mafs and powerfc here shortly (after the megasquirt is up and running and everything i thought it would be)

send offers for my powerfc to tyrannix at gmail if you want to tho

Unless you plan to rev over 12,000 rpms I dont think you have to worry about FORD system keeping up, the creators already bench tested them to 17,000 rpms.

Are you keeping Power Steering?

Have you already planned where to mount the trigger and pulley?

Im sending him out all my ford edis4 stuff, along with my 36-1 wheel ghetto mounted onto the crank pulley,vr bracket, and vr sensor. The stuff I made looks kinda goofy, but it worked to get it started and running. UMS_CA has pictures of the stuff I made somewhere.

how is it ghetto rigged? you said it was welded on the AC pulley.

BTW, was the pulley balanced after it was welded?

which side is the sensor going on, intake or exhaust?

and yes, im keeping power steering

its not been balanced or anything like that. The wheel was just aligned and then jb welded onto the pulley, hence being ghetto. It was a temporary fix until I had a pulley made with a vr wheel built into it. The vr sensor bracket bolts onto the bottom alt bolt. I included an open element IAT sensor when I shipped it out.

STOP

if that pulley cant run PS, do NOT ship it, i wont trade my extra for it if it cant.

HOWEVERif it can be removed, and i can put the wheel on the AC portion, or behind the ALT pulley. then its all good, i would just go straight to a hall sensor, but i wont be needing AC at all, ever when i transplant this engine to the ae86, so i dont mind having it already setup like that

ok, well I dont think there is anyway this wheel is going to come off of this pulley. Sorry for the confusion. Ill ship everything else out in the morning.

no problem, i thought you said in email that it was on the AC pulley portion, or i would have let you know right then.

but the sensor is cool, and if you can grab another wheel like you said, ill see if i can get it attached so its useful for me. if not, then ill just go straight to hall sensor, no biggie

(btw, no email right now, im at work again)

edit> does this one, or can i add teh GPIO board?

GPIO is still beta testing meaning its out but only a select few people have prototypes and doing real world testing. Its only compatible with Megasquirt II. You can add up to 45 Input/Outputs as well as the 200 port settings.

The Router board as well is in the beta testing for you people who want Seqeuntial injection.

Should be another month or two.

if you want a pulley that will work with PS let me know, i can have then machined to work, i just need a 36-1 wheel and pulley.

also if you dont want to hassle with the ford EDIS coil pack and its funny plug wires you can use a dodge neon coil pack, or even two GM coil packs. or if you really want to experiment, you can probably wire up the CA18det coils to fire with the EDIS ign module. Im personally using the neon pack, im buying a MSD version for 75$ once the cars running.

so ill be able to use it as this one is a MS II, right?

thats cool, thanks, but im going to switch it to a hall effect setup, unless you can stick a trigger wheel on the back of the pulley, so all 3 (alt, AC, PS) are available.

if not, dont worry about it, if i use a hall for one, it will be easier when i have 2 CAs to be using the same sensors and stuff on both (and the s13 will be running PS and AC, the ae86 will just have PS)

im starting to look/gather up the parts i need for the hall setup now

dont mean to thread jack but, i spoke to the megasquirt guys in person and they said i can run my OEM CAS (cam angle sensor) with their systems, is there a better reason why you guys arent?thanks

sure.

CAS is running on the exhaust cam, and then you must set timing and adjust things

with some sort of trigger on the crank axis, its just 1 less thing to go wrong, you are getting your timing diretly from the crank.

and not having to set reset timing if you want to adjust your exhaust cam wins

thats my reason anyway

Sure is because Nissan electronics are completly garbage

Aparently you havent seen all the threads where a lot of the problem is in the CAS. The coilpack and CAS are just too prone to failure, the CAS goes haywire and the coilpacks tend to overheat.

Plus the FORD EDIS system is one of FORD's greatest achievment even though its so simple lol.

And like tyrannix said its good for timing.

And Tyrannix you have the latest version MSII V3.0 so the GPIO was built for that setup. You'll be able to do things like Traction Control, EGT on each cylinder, etc etc.

If you got a turbo to destroy for the hell of it, have fun with the Anti Turbo Lag feature LOL
