Here's the story folks; I have 91 240 used to have dohc 4 cyl 5spd

I have an rb20 with manual trans and top and lower harness still intact.

I've already got the motor in and im ready to start wiring this puppy up..

I have searched on nico now for a good week and still cant find a good

of how to convert my harness to work. I have carl h's write up but i still

a hard time makin sense of it. I also got pics of pinouts and pcm connector.

But I just having a hard time finding the connectors and what not.

Now incase your wondering i am very good at electrical and wiring but

I still need a map to navigate the ocean

so with that said, I am at my last couple options

1) wire this thing up via help from nico

2) buy a cd to wire this thing up

3) send out all four harness out( last resort)

4) just light car on fire.

I would really apprecaite guidance in return I will post tons of pics and

hopefully this will be the once and for all rb20 wiring conversion thread

wtih pics.

So with that said please post up the best info you have seen on rb20

wiring. I will get pics up shortly

Theres one. Have you checked the race bred one out? And yeah check Carl Hs out. I've heard there are 8 different variations for the rb20 harness. I didnt see mine out there either. You have to piecemeal it together from different guides thats what i found...

Theres also only three or four wires you need to hook up to get running fully. Only two of which are on the big grey oval KA clip. Another from the RB is the white/purple, which goes to the THICK white wire coming outta the KA fuse box. The last is the fuel pump relay which is black/pink (dig around near the main harness clip on the RB to find it, its not on the main part) to black/pink KA on the small brown clip. I just pulled mine tonight ill go check the wires and post up in here.

Don't give up man i know it can be frustrating.

I tried to do mine myself and just caused myself a bunch of aggravation. I tried to follow the write ups and still wasnt getting power to the fuel pump or the injectors. After a week of trying to figure it out and a starter later i ended up sending it off to have it done anyway. I say just send it off and be done with it

thanks guys, I will look into that link and search further tonite.

But evils14 i think you may be right, would be nice at this point to just send

it out and then just slap it on in. I just wanted that sense of

accomplishement of doing it all myself but I dont care anymore, just want

this movingl.

Actually about the most helpful info i found was in this magazine i picked

up at target today.

It called "Project Car" issue #13

They show from start to finish rb20 swap in a infiniti M30..

It was quite impressive issue and they tackled everything. If the issue

could be uploaded online it would be the ultimate sticky if the car were

a 240 even so the ver y similar and the concept is the same. check it out

yall.

http://www.sr20store.com thats the shop were they did the swap

http://www.projectcarmag.com is the one that covered it

have you turned the steering wheel all the way to both sides now that the motor is in? that clearance might go away

If it does, get the syko elbow. It's pricey but i can say with 100% confidence you will not be disappointed with it.

thanks for the input guys. So far no luck with info on wiring these thing up...

Mckinney says they can do it... 350 if you an s13 400 if you have a s14..

Its a lil steep..but they guarantee it will plug and play no promblems..

Might just go this route..Just bugs me though cause i know this esh is so

simple....

Hey bro I just did a complete RB25DET Swap into my S14 and I did all the wiring myself it was easy. I bought the wiring manual which comes with perfect instructions and directions and it comes with pictures. I bought it for $25 on ebay and its great. I dont mind giving it to you but its for an S14. and its for the rb25det. I dont know how different it is. If not you can go to drifting.com and get there number and call them. They have a DVD they sell of them rewiring an rb25det into an S13, they might have 1 for the rb20det. the DVD is $25.

thanks bud for the heads up. Ive talked to the sr20 store which is local to

me and decided to send them my harness. Its gonna be 200 which is not

bad and turnaround will be a week. Acutually now that i have both harnes

off the car (well just about) I think its starting to look easier to convert..

We will see. I will keep the thread updated as i go along.

ok a lil update.

been on and off the car lately but i've done a lil work to it lately.

1st things first, i sent out my harness to the SR20 store, they then quoted me 350 to convert my harness...

Drop it off on wed, picked it up net wed and i got i was very happy with the nice harness i got. He went over it quickly and assured me it would just drop right in.

He was absolutely correct, I got home and wired the harness up and one hour later I fired up my car~!!! None of the piping for the intercooler is hooked up yet so it ran like crap due to vacuum leaks and stuff but it runs!!!!

Im am now building a 2.5" straight pipe exhaust for it from scratch and then continue to the intercooler fab

Usually i wont do this but i have just got to say something about the mount kit. I hope you (or anyone in general) didnt pay alot for that mount kit. I have never really looked into mount kits for a rb swap. Mostly because i always intended on makeing my own. But that has got to be the cheapest way of doing something i have ever seen. I mean damn, a 5th grader could do that. I am blown away that something like that has market value. Ok done with that. Sorry.

But to another note making good progress keep it up.

looks great but i probably would of did the intercooler piping the other way.. being that the hot air exits from the turbo goes through the intercooler and cools going to the intake but all im saying is that your hot side pipe is a little bit long compared to your cold side. But motor looks good how is it running

So, using this logic... I want to run my cold side pipe right behind my radiator? Yeah sounds good.

OP, that is the best way to do it. Keep up the good work. On a side note, I have never seen so many damn silicone couplers on an intercooler.

thanks bud, as far as all the silcone well i was trying to do some mandrel bends on the thin aluminum pipe but it didnt go so well. I also did one with a bunch of pie cuts and then just brazed it shut but i didnt like the end result.

If anything i guess the good part of having so much of the cold pipe consists of silicone is that keeps the heat out. The color of red for hot and blue for cold was not intentional but kinda neat.

So far the engine does not idle with maf connected. With maf disconnected it will start and "idle" but it is very high and goes up and down.

Im gonna check the idle switch and tps and adjust if out of spec.

I think im also gonna check the timing to see if its right.

What is spec for a 20?is 14-15 deg?

Lol, I was going to ask if that red/blue-hot/cold was intentional or not, and I agree too, kinda cool how it worked out, especially since you haven't got to paint scheme stages yet so mixing and matching doesn't matter.

I too have quite the fuster cluck of silicone couplers on all my intercooler pipes, just make sure all your t-clamps are tightened down super tight so you don't go blowing off boost pipes.... not that I know from experience or anything....

Otherwise, looks like a solid build so far, keep up the good work.

yeah i cut it.. um just used a cutting disc and drill to to use on the spot welds. I think those are all the pics i;ve taken and i just put my bumper on the car.

The brackets the intercooler bolts to are left over metal from the bumper. I weld them to the bumper and use the bolt that holds the horns on.
