I noticed a leak coming from the lower bolt area of the front driver-side caliper - internal seals have been purchased - who has replaced these seals before? - [the kit contains four seals (two for each piston in the caliper assy) - what are the ins/outs involved - looks pretty basic but it's a Q45 - so what are the 'secrets' - - - - -

I have pictures that I need to post(a friend has them still). If you have an air compressor it is very easy to rebuild your calipers. The air compressor is used to blow out the piston when you have removed the caliper. I did all 4 of mine in a few hours. You will want to flush your fluid as well as bleed your fluid. The FSM tells you which wheels to start with for the bleeding procedure. I got all my seals from Autozone for less than $5 per set. They have worked well. My only mistake was not being zealous enough on the bleeding as I let some air get through. One pump on the brakes makes em rock hard though. I will bleed again when I get time. I'll try and get some pics for you soon.

If possible I'd really like to see those pix too! I just got a set of q45 fronts from the junk yard, and i'd like to rebuild them before putting them on my car, any help is appreciated!

Once you get in there its very obvious what needs to happen. you just blow the pistons out with compressed air (one at a time). Then youll see the seals inside that need replace,d along with the outer seal/dust boot. Very easy. Just put a little assembly lube on it too, and be careful not to scratch the bore when you are removing the old seal.

My pictures suck compared to Ozzie's write up. But here are most of them as promised. You can look at all the picks by clicking on a thumbnail below and then clicking on the link to see all pictures by this user.

Video of the piston popping out. It's funny every time I watch it!

How much does this cost to do? And I guess we can get the local parts from the Advance or Napa or someplace right? Are they about the same as Joe's?

I think the seal kit was between $5-$10 for the 1 caliper (front), and 2 bottles of brake fluid.

Read the article I wrote for more info.

I got the seal kit sent out to me by Kenny (NSR_A32)I think it was $10 total, posted to Australia.
