FROZEN LOCKS / BROKEN DOOR HANDLE

Have an 08 Rogue bought new in 2009 and 5 times the locks froze and resulted in a broken door handle that doesn't open from the outside. I know this is a common problem. Called the dealer today since it happened again last night and they said all 4 doors were serviced under a recall in Feb of 2011. I didn't receive a recall notice but know that Nissan is voluntarily servicing/repairing these vehicles. Anyway, they said "take it in and we'll look at it", without committing to cover it under a good faith warranty. The "kit" is about $28 and it'll take about 1.5 hours labor. He did say that it probably would not be covered and I'd have to pay for it.My gripe is that they didn't seem willing to repair it again without charging me no matter how much convincing I was giving them. Do you think NISSAN USA might assist me? Any insight would be appreciated since I'd rather not spend $200 or so on this problem. THANKS!

they cant commit to covering it, without looking at the issue. there is never 1 connection within a door handle/lock. this could be a totally separate issue than what the original problem is. they cant see where/what broke so they cant commit to repairing it, if this time its something totally different.

this is a common problem in many cars. the easiest fix is lubricating the contact points (with a plastic safe lube) so the water has nothing to stick too(and freeze)
