My condenser fan motor has expired, and I took the Q over to an AC specialist to have them spend the 2 hours to replace the motor, as well as performing an evac/recharge of the AC system. The tech hit an impasse when trying to remove the condenser to get to the fan, he was unable to loosen the coupling which attaches the high-pressure hose to the condenser...says it is frozen. I hate this kind of thing because it raises my suspicions when dealing with a person who is not familiar with the Q, even though AC work should be fairly generic. It seems as if this type of fitting shouldn't freeze; of course, part of the suggested fix is that the condenser and hose will need to be replaced. So, is the frozen fitting within the realm of possibilities, or am I confronted with an incompetent technician? Is there a way to properly loose this fitting, or is there an alternative to removing the condenser to get to the fan motor?

Appreciate any suggestions.

Not knowing your location [salt-weather extremes] hard to answer but we have seen import Q from Michigan, Minnesota, and Illinois in sad shape after 10 years.

As to replacement it depends on physical structure of fins [efficiency].
