Ok, my friend's dad's friend's frontier just stalled off a stop sign. Here is wut happened: He slowed down at the stop sign, didt stop completely, and than as he roll off the stop sign, he press gas pedal, and car die. When trying to restart the car, it wont start. 2001 frontier 6cylinder truck. Automatic.

starter motor turns, and the car cranks.(since the car was runing and than die, i eliminated the possibility of starter being bad.)

Battery, works fine, touched both ends, both ends are cold. lights turns on, pretty sure its good.

Fuel, i felt pressure going through the fuel line when my friend trys to start the car.

Spark plug wire. Well.. i was going to take one of the tube out, stick a screw driver in, and test for spark. but one of the older person (my other friend's dad) said "their fine". I didt want to disrepsect him and so i didt check for spark. Being that the car stayed there for 2 hrs before i got my hands on it, the distributor is still kinda warm.... im thinking thats the problem, its fried.

I know is really hard to determine wut the problem could be w/o being there looking at the car and testing it. But please any input will helpful. It will be best if i can get some help from you guys and fix the car so the owner dont have to break a fortune paying for towing, and shops charges alot around here.

pull the dizzy cap first and make sure its spinning. Sounds to me like he broke a timing belt. Just because a spark plug wire is good doesn't mean crap, the ignitor could've blown and you would never have spark, or the CAS inside the dizzy like you suspect. It wouldn't be hot though if it blew, they just burn out like a light bulb. Anyway, gl with the diagnosis, and report back what you find. peace.

That sounds like a load of bs to me. I never trust shops with my cars anymore.

Took a week for them to figure out my distributor went bad. THEY CRACKED IT.....don't know how to tighten things obviously. Almost made me spend 2k on a new fuel system.

If you have a friend that's good with cars, have him look at it before you make a decision.

yea, i dont really trust shops. Only one that i trust is because my dads freidn with the owner. they only charged 3200 for a engine swap ^^.

THey owner is planing to buy another car, and here is the kicker, the shop very nicely offered the owner that they will help him get rid of the car if he decides not to fix it........ Im telling him to just take car home and i will fix it for him. is probably just a bad dizzy.

Wow 3200 for a T-belt would be a ton of cash.Or even a corroded sending unit.

SO, you never pulled the dizzy cap to see if the timing belt broke?

I think some details are missing. If the engine is interference, meaning the valves will hit articulating cylinders, you should hear some reaction if the timing belt failed. A $5,000 estimate is total, meaning get a new motor.

You wont hear anything actually, its not like they come in complete contact with the pistons. Because of the angle you can however make the head of the valve break off, nd that will make some noise. lol! Every timing belt thats broken has been described to me and the one time it happened to me was, "it just stopped running" no noise. peace.
