Hi All
I just bought a new 2016 Frontier in December. I'm still excited about it actually.
Here's the problem. I want the cargo rails that didn't come with my truck. I have the crew cab long bed. The dealer has obtained them for me but doesn't know how to mount them. I need to know, for each rail, what is behind the bed at the mounting locations for my specific truck. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Thanks
Chris Harper

Hello again

A search turned up a mod posted to club frontier.org , DIY utilitrack. Seems like the front and bottom are ok but the sides are tougher. I don't mind the work, but I would like to know what's back behind there on my truck.
Does anyone have a contact at the company who would know?

Thanks
Chris Harper

Hi all
Just to let you know that I've installed the front and bottom rails.
The front is five screws off and five screws on and the bottom is just drill the bed and use the supplied bolts with your own washers and nuts. I'll post it if and when I get to the sides, but I need to get up the gumption for that
one.
I'm using regular unistrut sping nuts (fit perfect) with heavy duty chrome rings that fit them that i ran into at the local h.depot.

I had the truck out for a loaded trip 4 hours each way and still really like it.

Hi all

Just to let everyone know I did put the rails on the sides as well.
The problem was that with this version of the truck (SV) , the bed is not set up at all for the side rails.
On the Pro4x model there are brackets welded to the bed sides that the rails are then bolted to. I was going to just bolt to the bed in the same location, but even if I had a hoist it was going to be nasty. (very difficult to reach up into the fender) All of a sudden, I noticed that the downward lip of the top edge of the bed was the same width as the rails. It was easy to install the rails there. They are about 6" higher than the stock height but great for what I need them for.

Of course, this modification is not engineered, so I'll keep the loads moderate. That said, it would take quite a bit to rip the bed apart, and I now have tie down points wherever I want them. Cargo stays put.

I didn't stop there though. I built a half-length, rolling bed cart.
How's that for a teaser?

That's good to know! You never know when I'll end up with a "S" again
