The hardbody to me is still a better looking truck, no offense just my opinion on the styles.

I would have to agree! The Frontier is a good looking truck, but you gotta love the style of the hardbody, even if it is a bit smaller!

I agree there is nothing like a Hardbody truck but what you guys may not realize is the D22 Frontier is still a Hardbody. In fact, from the bottom of the windows up is all Hardbody, they didn't change a thing sheetmetal-wise. Also, the lay out under the hood is the same as the HB. They share the same roof!! Only thing changed is the pop out windows no longer curve into the roof and they no longer pop out. Check this pic out, it explains everything.

D22 Navara has D21 HB pop out windows, everything else...except hood and grille, are the same as my D22. Look from the base of the glass up, it's all Hardbody!

All Nissan did with the D22 is they took a D21 body bulged out the sheet metal along the belt line and changed up the styling a bit. Hell, 98-2000 D22 trucks even had D21 tailgates. The apple didn't fall too far from the tree when it came to the D22. Don't let those oversize fenders fool you.

Look at the roof of this truck then go look at your own roof.

I wonder why Nissan removed the pop out windows in the USDM D22 trucks.

I wouldn't. The performance gains is usually negative because all VG33e/er engines have bad knock sensors.

It's the location of the sensor that's the problem. It gets cooked underneath the intake manifold. The best thing to do is relocate it. Sadly we don't have a how-to of our own on the topic yet. From what I have read guys are using 99 Maxima sensors and mounting them on top of the intake manifold. Then they are opening up the harness and rewiring to the new sensor essentially cutting out the old sensor from the picture.

well that explains it…. and besides, yesterday i went out and took a look at one and when i saw all the clutter under that hood and saw what needed to be done to do certain things, i said NO.
Call me a wimp or whatever you wana call me but i'm used to working on small 4 cyl motors where i have plenty of room to work with and don't have to remove that and that to change or repair this… IMO its not worth the extra labor / stress to have V6 power or 4x4 abilities… i like keeping things simple.
I will just turbo my 4 cyl frontier and be done with it :)
