when replaceing the clutch do I have to remove the transmission all together or can i just slide it back? also is there anything else I have to worry about?

if you have room and jacks to support the transmission then do it...but i would move it out from under the truck for more room to work with...depending on the conditon(leaking?) of your rear main seal you should replace that also

you must remove the trans. i have seen a few cars/trucks that you could just slide it way back but your truck is not one of them. it is really easy. i can do one in 2 hours.
