The truck has begun to stall on the road. After a brief "rest" it starts up and I can get back home.

The oil level was low, though I do not recall seeing the oil pressure gauge reading low, but in my current state of mind, I could have overlooked or misread.

In any case, I've added oil and it starts up. So, the question is, "Is there a low oil pressure shut off meter switch" or am I looking at merely coincident issues?

BTW, I plugged in my OBDII, followed instructions, it runs all scans and then reports "Failure to Link". Rebooting doesn't help.

Comments, shared experience and recommendations are appreciated.

Failure to link is usually a fuse issue or a bad ground. Check all fuses, and make sure battery voltage is correct.

I'd guess something else went awry to create a low oil level. I'd do a full oil and filter change, check battery connections (should be clean and shiny), check voltage, check ALL fuses in fuse panel, and then try again with the scanner.

Do you have a check engine light on?

I finally got my scanner working and I.D.ed the problem. some sort of sensor something or other. Locally available part. Scheduled for installation Friday. Oil was coincidence but a little worrisome to let it get so low.

thanks for the reply
