So today I noticed my 96 S14 was making a like snapping noise when I turn the wheel. It would only make it on the front right. And it also turns to the right while going straight and Ill have to hold the steering wheel to stay straight. Could it be the CV axle? Or what else do you guys think it could be??

do you have coilovers? commonly a snapping noise while turning the wheel is the coil snapping around the strut if the spring is loose. If that's the case, then it isn't that serious, and it doesn't mean anything is broken. It's just annoying... If the adjustment screw or locknut is loose then the spring comes loose and snaps when the wheel turns. If it comes loose enough on only one side then yur suspension will become un-aligned which could cause your car to not steer straight.

Btw, the same thing could be happening if you have lowering springs or just cheap coilovers/struts, but in that case then something else is just loose.

Okay. I will check that today. My friend was saying it could have been dirt stuck in the spring, but I pressure washed the wheel well, and nothing changed. I noticed a boot was torn under it and I';m thinking that could be it?

So I figured out that it is the spring sliding off the housing when I turn. Pieces of the side of the housing are chipped off so it leaves room for the spring to slide out. So I'm just thinking of getting Coilovers to replace these lowering springs the previous owner had.

Good eye. Finding noises in the suspension can be almost impossible sometimes. PITA

I had the same problem when I went to lowering springs and aftermarket struts. the spring never sat properly on the strut mount and would make a poping noise when turning the wheel. It was the whole spring twisting on the perch. Definitely go with coils!! :woot:
