2011 M37x. I am replacing the wheel hub assembly. Removed the rotors, calipers, axle nut, and the four bolts securing the hub assembly. Also removed the sensor. I have tried everything to remove the hub assembly without any luck. Tried the tool with slide hammer, ton of penetrating oil, hammer it(messed up my dust shield!!).
Only thing left is a sledge hammer.
Any pointers?

Try heating it up with a blow torch or something a bit...I had the same issue on my 2007 when doing my hubs. My passenger side came out pretty easy, driver side was a PITA. Just took a LOT of banging to finally do it.

Here is a guide for the Y50 which should be almost identical to the Y51...for what it's worth.

Funny, my passenger side was way hard on my '06 M45. I must pounded several times with a hammer on the back side with what seemed like a whole can of PB blaster too, then finally moved a little so I could get a pry bar on the front side to get more leverage to get it to move.

Also broke off the speed sensor retaining bolt, so had to drill that out and replace - adding another 2+ hours to this job.

Good luck with getting it out!!!

The sledge hammer did it finally. Rotated the steering to the side, with axle puller and the slide hammer in place, hit the slide hammer with the sledge hammer. Three good hits and everything fell on the ground. No way it was coming out with any of the legitimate methods!

glad you got it off, but just curious, which hub is it? (F/R, passenger/driver) and how many miles do you have on your car when you noticed it starting to fail?

thanks,

Craig

In my 2007, it was the driver side front and it failed around 75kmi if I recall. Started to hum a bit, etc. I think it was like $200/hub, so I got both and did them at the same time. Pretty cheap part to replace, considering it's importance.
