Has anyone had the front wheel bearings replaced ?
And if so what was the approx cost of Labor ??
My passenger front has been howling for awhile, and now when i turn left at speed its Grinding like crazy.
Kinds skeered the dang wheel will fly off !!! :ohno:
I don't have the tools to do it myself.
Takes a sizable press if I recall.

You can do most of the work yourself!
Find an automotive machine shop that can press it into the hub for you!
Unless the J30 is your only car and nobody can drive u there..

I didn't do it myself, but I had it changed a number of years ago. A combination of road salt, speed bumps and age just killed it. I bought the parts myself. SKF use to sell a kit. It wasn't very expensive.

you can buy the bearings at NAPA and see when their technician is there and bring the mcpherson strut there and they can install it for you with their press. maybe $40 for bearing and $30 charge for install. friend did that with his 300zx front spindles.

Good plan Shark.
I don't think the NAPA near me has a press.
But I'm pretty sure O'Reilys and Jacks Auto do.

Done anything yet?

We have been racing on used hubs, the entire assy is usually good at the junkyard, if you can do a brake job the hub is next past the rotor, replace hub and bearing together, takes no time or special tools past the big socket to remove it.

I second Chump

The rear wheel bearing went out on my car and replaced it just this past weekend with a used knuckle from the local junk yard. The knuckle cost me $20 and was in and out in about 2 hours with just a few small sockets and a 36mm one I had to rent from AutoZone.

Works like a champ and cost me a fraction the price.

For that cost, go back and pick up the other side!
